ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     A two-hour, high-energy interactive traditional Zimbabwean music performance was held at Bonnie Wenk Park on June 15, 2019.  The event was a part of the McKinney Cultural Music Series and the City of McKinney Parks & Recreation African Heritage Concert.  This is the third year of the concert in McKinney.

                     The event attracted approximately 200 attendees of all ages and backgrounds from McKinney and the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Outreach Grants provide financial assistance for the costs associated with a single project, or if the applicant is applying for the first time.

                     Per 2017 Arts Grants Guidelines approved by Council on October 4, 2016, Outreach Grants can pay up to 50% of eligible project expenses, not to exceed $3,000.

                     Project request for a grant award of $3,000 was approved by the McKinney Arts Commission at its regular meeting on April 18, 2019.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     After this payment, the balance of the Outreach funds will be $2,000.
