ITEM SUMMARY:

The City Secretary’s Office is seeking grant funds to purchase a digital touchscreen display and associated mounting equipment, to be located in the City Hall lobby, for posting public notices.

To help increase the chances of receiving grant funds, the City will apply to three grant programs, ConocoPhillips Charitable Investments, the Moody Foundation, and the Ed Rachal Foundation.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Currently, the City Secretary’s Offices uses a physical bulletin board, located in the City Hall’s outdoor breezeway at a height that is above the average person’s height, making it difficult for residents to read and for staff to post notices.

An interactive digital display would increase civic engagement and transparency with residents by displaying notices in an indoor setting at a height that is compliant with the American with Disabilities Act. Also, staff could more readily and easily update public notices while also exploring the potential to make more information available to the public through the digital display.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Requesting up to $30,000 in grant funds. There is no match required for any of the grants mentioned above.
