ITEM SUMMARY:
• On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the City Council will meet in Special Session to appoint members to the various boards & commissions of the city.
• Prior to the special meeting,
o individual Council Members may prepare and submit to the City Secretary his or her list of preferred nominees; and
o City Council may meet in Work Session, without action, to discuss preferencing nominations.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Each board consists of members appointed to two-year terms with approximately half of all terms expiring in staggered years.
• The City Council may fill expired terms with incumbent or new members. Additionally, the Council may remove / replace members with unexpired terms at any time, with or without cause.
• 157 new candidates and incumbent members applied to serve on the various boards & commissions in 2026
o 62 individuals (40% of applicants) participated in interviews held between July 20-30 at the City Hall building
o 28 individuals (18%) did not participate in the interviews
o 7 individuals (5%) withdrew their application from consideration, including two incumbent members who are not seeking reappointment.
