RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution to accept and implement the grant award to fund the enhancement of active attack response and readiness.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

                     This project will address the National Priority Areas for Soft Targets and Crowded Places and Domestic Violent Extremism. 

                     The funding will provide equipment that will be used for training and response to mass casualty and active attack incidents. It will also supply the City of McKinney’s Rescue Task Force (RTF) with trauma response kits and training simulation aids that will improve competency and provide more efficient treatment and evacuation of casualties. The intended impact is to better protect our community with a properly trained and equipped Rescue Task Force.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural, man-made, and technological threats and hazards.
