RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
· Approval of the attached Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
· The crape myrtle world collection site is a 7-acre site located on the north side of Collin McKinney Parkway east of Alma Road.

· American Landscape Systems, Inc. submitted the lowest bid for the construction of Crape Myrtle World Collection project with a bid of $874,412.

· A total of six bids were submitted and accepted.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
· Newman, Jackson, Bieberstein, Inc., with Staff support, recommends accepting the bid from American Landscape Systems, Inc. for the construction of the Crape Myrtle World Collection project.

· This project is scheduled for completion in February 2011.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
· Crape Myrtles World Collection (PK6118) is a FY 07-08 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds, Collin County Open Space Funding Assistance Program, and parkland dedication funds.

· Additional funding is needed to complete the project as planned.

· In a concurrent CIP Amendment, Staff is requesting additional construction funds in the amount of $100,000 to be appropriated from parkland dedication funds.

· Unencumbered project funds currently total $986,500.

· Below is a breakdown showing what the new project budget ($1,086,500) would be if the additional funds of $100,000 is approved.
