RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute all documents necessary to accept the donation in the amount of $450,000 for the Neighborhood Heros Program.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The donation will enable the purchase, deployment, and maintenance of up to 190 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) over an initial five year period.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The Neighborhood Heros Program will initiate a community-based initiative focused on improving survival outcomes from sudden cardiac arrest by strategically placing AEDs into the hands of CPR-trained citizen volunteers throughout the city.

                     The program supports the City’s goal of becoming a “4-Minute City” by increasing rapid access to CPR and defibrillation during the critical first minutes of a cardiac emergency.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The accepted donation of $450,000 will enable the purchase, deployment, maintenance, and related technology associated with up to 190 AEDs over an initial five-year period for the Neighborhood Heroes Program.
