RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of a Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney provides School Resource Officers (SRO) to the Frisco Independent School District (FISD).
• There will be three (3) SROs assigned to FISD.
• The cost of the SROs is shared 50% to both FISD and the City of McKinney.
• The cost of three (3) fully equipped police pursuit vehicles is shared 50% to both FISD and the City of McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The original contract, approved by Council on October 2, 2018, provided for 50% cost sharing of one (1) SRO to provide services to the FISD high school.
• An amended contract was approved on October 19, 2021 for one (1) additional SRO to provide services to the FISD seven (7) middle schools.
• An additional (1) SRO has been added to provide roving services to the FISD elementary schools.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• FISD will pay the contract amount of $217,650 for the 2023-2024 School Resource Officer Program.
