RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This resolution will authorize the City Manager to enter into a renewal lease agreement with McKinney East Fork, LLC for the grazing of cattle or cultivation of crops on City parkland known as the “Douglas tract”. 

 

                     This renewal lease will begin on October 17, 2024 and will terminate on October 16, 2029, unless terminated sooner by the City. The City has the unilateral right to terminate should Parks need the property for its recreational programs.

 

                     There is a pavilion structure on the premises which may be used for City purposes. The lessee may not make any alterations to the pavilion and all fixtures, equipment and appliances within the pavilion are to remain on the property. No hunting is allowed on the property.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     This approximately 300-acre parkland tract was purchased by the City in 2013.

 

                     The property is currently undeveloped with no immediate plans for the development of parks and recreation facilities (trails, parking, amenities, etc.). 

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The lessee will pay the City $6,469.20 in rent each year, subject to an annual increase should the Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers for Dallas/Fort Worth and Arlington increase.
