ITEM SUMMARY:
* This item was tabled from the November 5, 2024, City Council Meeting.
* Section 212.0021 of the Texas Local Government Code, as amended by HB 3699 from the 88th Legislature (2023), requires the governing body of a municipality to adopt reasonable specifications for streets and drainage facilities.
* While the requirement is specific to street and drainage facilities, staff has has chosen to publish a single Engineering Design Manual that covers design and construction requirements for all public infrastructure including streets, drainage, water, sewer, structures, landscaping, and environmental.
* This version of the Engineering Design Manual is largely consistent with the previous version. Significant changes in this version of the Engineering Design Manual include:
o Updates to the roundabout design standards to match or reference new research reports and construction details.
