RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

ITEM SUMMARY:
• If funded, this grant would fund design guidelines for the Historic Overlay District. Design guidelines provide clear examples and direction for new construction and alterations to historic buildings.
• Many cities across Texas provide design guidelines for their historic districts, including Plano, Georgetown, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
• City staff would use the grant funding to procure a third-party consultant to help with outreach and creation of the design guidelines.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Texas Historical Commission (THC) administers the Texas Certified Local Government grants, which are grant funding opportunities to participating city and county governments to develop and sustain an effective local preservation program.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• 50/50 match is required. The exact amount of funding that will be requested is still being determined; however, the requested amount would not exceed $50,000.
• CLG grants are reimbursement based. The grant recipient needs to spend the grant award amount plus their local match upfront and then be reimbursed for the grant amount.
