5.1: Create affordable recreational and cultural arts activities

for all ages throughout the city.

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Collin County Master Gardeners Association is requesting $14,712 for advertising, marketing, promotion and advertising of 2026-2027events at Myers Park including:

o                     Fall Plant Sale (October 24, 2026)

o                     Edible Gardening (January 2027)

o                     Tomato Workshop (February 2027)

o                     The Garden Show (March 2027)

o                     Spring Plant Sale (April 2027)

                     Total combined expected attendance is 7,000+.

                     Admission for events is free. Admission for workshops is $25.

                     Request represents 81% of total promotional budget.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The Collin County Master Gardeners Association was established to assist and support the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Horticulture agent in providing the community with research-based information on sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 26 is $250,000, with $125,470 remaining and available for Cycle II applicants.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant in FY 25 in the amount of $12,000 to the Collin County Master Gardeners Association for 2025-2026.
