ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance amends Section 62-113 of the Code of Ordinances to establish a speed limit of 50 mph for Custer Road (FM 2478) from a point 500 feet north of Rhea Mills Circle to Laud Howell Parkway (FM 1461).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has completed the reconstruction of Custer Road (FM 2478) from University Drive (US 380) to Laud Howell Parkway (FM 1461) and conducted speed zone studies to evaluate the speed limit.
• In accordance with State Law and Department policy, TxDOT has proposed a speed limit of 50 mph along Custer Road (FM 2478) in this area.
• The only portion of Custer Rd (FM 2478) within the city limits of the City of McKinney, north of US 380 is located from a point 500 feet north of Rhea Mills Circle to Laud Howell Parkway (FM 1461). The remainder of Custer Road, north of US 380 to 500 feet north of Rhea Mills Circle, is within Collin County.
• Approval of this Ordinance will extend the speed zone limits for Custer Road (FM 2478) from a point 500 feet north of Rhea Mills Circle to Laud Howell Parkway (FM 1461).
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• No funds will be expended for this item. The Texas Department of Transportation will install all necessary signage along Custer Rd (FM 2478).
