• Discussion and action on filling the unexpired term (ending September 30, 2010) on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Board
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Mr. Al Alford passed away on February 3, 2010 after having been an important part of the City of McKinney for several decades
• Mr. Alford served on the City Council from 1973-1978 representing District 4
• In 1963, he started the Mickey Mantle Summer Baseball Program
• Mr. Alford umpired college baseball for 37 years and in the Southwest Conference for 20 years
• On January 12, 2002, Mr. Alford was inducted into Baseball Umpires Hall of Fame
• Mr. Alford has served on the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Board since 2006.
