ITEM SUMMARY:
? The JAG provides funds to assist in the enhancement of public safety and crime reduction in the City of McKinney.
? Funds will help purchase a Digital Forensics processing machine and equipment to be used in the digital forensics lab. This machine will be critical to the success of ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) investigations, allowing for quicker, more efficient processing of digital evidence and media. This machine and its integration is directly related to the amount of evidence available ensuring increases in successful prosecution of cases.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
? This ILA was originally approved in June, but additional funds were allocated, increasing the amount available to each City.
? The grant is issued by the U.S. Department of Justice to enable local law enforcement agencies to purchase needed equipment.
? The grant funds are administered by the City of Plano and shared by the City of McKinney, Collin County, the City of Frisco and the City of Plano. The City of McKinney’s share is $14,541.
