• Provide recommendations to Council.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• In August of 2022, staff presented an informational update to City Council on the current historic preservation programs in McKinney.
• As a follow-up to this discussion, staff is presenting information on potential opportunities such as the Certified Local Government program; possible expansions to the historic district; and methods to improve the implementation and administration of historic preservation in McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The historic preservation ordinances were first enacted in McKinney in the 1980s.
• A white paper outlining the history of historic preservation programs in McKinney and opportunities for future changes was created by staff in 2019 and forwarded to Council. Since then, staff has continued to work on those recommendations with Council.
