RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Receive and discuss presentation.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This presentation will discuss proposed changes to parking restrictions along the downtown circulatory roads, including Lamar St, Hunt St, Davis St, Church St, and Chestnut St, as well as the adjacent alley-width streets, specifically targeting unmarked parking spaces.
* There are no proposed changes to the marked parking spaces on Virginia Street, Louisiana Street, Tennessee Street, or Kentucky Street.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Engineering Department has observed that with the continued growth and success of the Downtown Square, navigating around the square can be challenging with the narrow streets and on-street parking allowed on these streets that provide critical circulation routes for the square.
* Staff has conducted a study of on-street parking within the core downtown area bounded by Lamar St to the north, Davis St to the south, Church St to the west, and SH5 (McDonald St) to the east, collecting data of vehicular volumes, existing parking restrictions, existing fire lanes, street widths, and actively-used on-street parking locations.


FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The modification of the signage and markings for the parking changes will be funded from existing traffic operational funding.
