RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Staff recommends approval of the proposed Resolution authorizing the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Governmental Alternative Fuel Fleet (“GAFF”) Grant.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Public Works Department would like to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Governmental Alternative Fuel Fleet (“GAFF”) Grant in the amount of One Hundred Sixty-One Thousand Dollars ($161,000.00) that could be used reduce the City’s budgeted cost to purchase several Ford F-150 Lighting pickup trucks during the Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Public Works Department has budgeted funds to acquire several Ford F-150 Lighting pickup trucks during the Fiscal Year 2024-2025.
• The Governmental Alternative Fuel Fleet (“GAFF”) Grant is a competitive grant administered by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
• The GAFF Grant is intended to allow governmental agencies, which operate a fleet of more than 15 vehicles, to purchase or lease new on-road vehicles that operate using an alternative fuel thereby reducing NOX emissions and their impacts on the environment.
• The Ford F-150 Lighting pickup truck should be eligible for a GAFF grant of $23,000 per unit.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• If the City is awarded a GAFF Grant, the revenues from the grants will be recognized in the respective funds in which the vehicles are already appropriated.
