ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) provides funds to assist in the enhancement of public safety and crime reduction in the City of McKinney.
• Funds will be used by the City of McKinney to purchase covert surveillance cameras and equipment to be used in the investigation and prosecution of criminal activity.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The grant is issued by the U.S. Department of Justice to enable local law enforcement agencies to purchase needed equipment.
• The grant funds are applied for administered by the City of Plano and shared by the City of McKinney, Collin County, the City of Frisco and the City of Plano. The City of McKinney’s share is $13,668.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney will receive $13,688 for the purchase of covert cameras. The purchase will be coordinated through Procurement Services to ensure compliance. The total purchase cost is $15,900 and the remaining $2,232 will be paid by the department.
