ITEM SUMMARY:

This interlocal agreement will provide a portion of funding to the Collin County Sheriff's Department to provide pre-indictment warrant services to all cities within Collin County. Each city will provide funding based on the percentage of warrants processed for their jurisdiction.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Pre-indictment warrant service has historically been handled centrally through the Sheriff’s Office. Due to recent budget cuts, this service will no longer be funded directly from the County. In lieu of hiring staff and transitioning this process internally to the McKinney Police Department, each Collin County city agreed to pay a portion of the costs to maintain the centralized processing.

Provided services will include pre-indictment warrant service.

The agreement will be effective October 1, 2026.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     Annual McKinney Costs: $34,044.75

This will cover a weighted percentage of staff time for the assigned unit at the Collin County Sheriff's Office.

This item will be funded through the City’s General Fund.

The contract will be renewed annually.
