ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney Engineering Department and Facilities Construction have been coordinating with Oncor to relocate the existing overhead electric lines to be placed underground within the Virginia Street right-of-way between SH 5 and Throckmorton Street.
• Oncor requires a dedicated easement outside of the street right-of-way to place an electrical switchgear and associated facilities to provide underground power to the McKinney Municipal Complex and other City owned property east of the railroad.
• The removal of three parking spaces will be required.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Construction of the Virginia and Throckmorton Infrastructure Improvements (Municipal Complex) Project (ST2235, WA2235, WW2235) is underway and is expected to be completed by Spring 2025.
• Oncor, in coordination with Engineering staff, evaluated multiple potential locations for the switchgear. Other locations were not recommended due to environmental concerns, franchise utility conflicts, and potential impacts to City utilities.
