ITEM SUMMARY:
• MEDC staff will provide an update on current business attraction, business retention, workforce development, innovation, real estate, and strategic development activities. The presentation will include updates on active projects, organizational performance, development opportunities, major MEDC initiatives, and matters requiring continued coordination between MEDC and the City. Staff will also discuss how MEDC activities support the City Council’s strategic goals and McKinney’s long-term economic competitiveness.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The McKinney Economic Development Corporation is responsible for promoting economic development, supporting the creation and retention of primary jobs, expanding McKinney’s commercial tax base and strengthening the city’s overall economic competitiveness.
• MEDC periodically meets with the McKinney City Council to review organizational activities, discuss major economic-development initiatives and ensure alignment between MEDC priorities and the City Council’s adopted strategic goals. This presentation is intended to provide a consolidated update on MEDC’s work program, project pipeline, organizational performance and near-term priorities
