RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance will modify the effective reduced speed school zone times for Comstock Elementary School along Silverado Trail to impact students attending Scoggins Middle School.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The reduced speed school zone along Silverado Trail accommodates students from both Comstock Elementary School and Scoggins Middle School.
• Frisco ISD requested the reduced speed school zone times be adjusted along Silverado Trail to accommodate Scoggins Middle School students participating in extracurricular activities.
• Staff will modify the morning school zone time to be established 45 minutes before the beginning of Comstock Elementary School for the day and end 5 minutes after the beginning of Scoggins Middle School. The afternoon school zone will be established 20 minutes before Comstock Elementary School dismissal and will end 50 minutes after the dismissal time of Scoggins Middle School.
• The reduced school zone time periods will be consistent with the Frisco ISD school schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds for the modification of the reduced speed school zone signage is provided by the engineering department’s operating budget.
