ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

                     This purchase is for a complete set of Ballistic Helmets and Communication Headsets to enhance the McKinney Police Department SWAT team. The proposed equipment will enhance the ability of the team to complete effective, efficient operations when responding to high-risk incidents. These systems enable team members to coordinate movements, identify threats, and adapt to highly volatile situations, greatly enhancing officer awareness and safety while on scene. It will further allow the team and commanders to communicate with command post personnel, dispatch, and other jurisdiction teams in the region when needed.

 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The UASI program grant award has been sought annually by the City of McKinney to help prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural, man-made, and technological threats and hazards.

                     If awarded, the grant amount is expected to be $59,989.
