ITEM SUMMARY:
• On May 30, 2025, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) released the final report for the Regional Transit 2.0 study. The purpose of the study was to develop a more aggressive transit program, increase membership in transportation authorities, collaborate between transportation partners, and better understand and address the long-term transit needs in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• In 2021, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) developed the Collin County Transit Study to assess existing conditions and develop short- and long-term public transportation strategies. The study identified the following key findings:
o Future transit services in Collin County
§ Near-Term (1-5 years): Paratransit, demand response/microtransit
§ Mid-Term (5-10 years): Fixed-route bus, premium bus
§ Long-Term (10+ years): Regional rail, high-capacity transit, automated transportation system/people movers
