RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Staff recommends approval of the resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The attached resolution and correspondence would authorize the City of McKinney Fire Department to continue responding to emergency service calls in the extra-territorial jurisdiction for fiscal year 2026 (October 1st, 2025, to September 30th, 2026).

                     This 1-year extension resolution is the second 1-year extension of emergency services provision that began during fiscal year 2025 in response to Collin County’s pending election and evaluation of the creation of an emergency services district.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The City of McKinney agreed to continue emergency services for FY2025 after discussion with Collin County, and in anticipation of an election to create an Emergency Services District in November 2025, Collin County has requested an additional year of contract emergency services for FY2026.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Collin County estimates the FY2026 funding level for the 1-year extension of emergency services will be $63,332.83.
