                     Approve Ordinance

ITEM SUMMARY:

This Ordinance amends Chapter 66 to remove any of the fees, fines, or court costs set by state law from both the body of the ordinance and the fee schedule.  This prevents having to update the ordinance every two years or having an outdated fee schedule.

The ordinance authorizes the court to collect all other fines, fees and court costs not specifically mentioned in the ordinance but otherwise mandated by state law, and incorporates by reference the Court Costs chart published by TMCEC.

Removing all reference to the fines, fees and court costs, the ordinance will now require the Court to maintain a schedule of such amounts, available for public viewing upon request.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The existing Ordinance lists specific dollar amounts of the fees, fines and court costs, which requires more maintenance and risks having an outdated fee schedule.

.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The approval of this ordinance does not have a negative financial impact.
