RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution

ITEM SUMMARY:

* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with Open Space TX, LLC, of The Colony, Texas for Controlled Livestock Targeted Grazing for the Parks and Recreation Department.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The purpose of this contract is to utilize an experienced vendor that uses proven methods of vegetation improvement using goats.

* The Parks and Recreation Division maintains the City's 80 miles of hike and bike trails, and almost 3,000 acres of parks and open spaces across the City. These spaces span the range of parkland and cityscapes. Portions of the park system are overgrown and must be cleared to gain access. Targeted grazing controls problem vegetation without erosion, chemicals, or burning of fossil fuels. No disruption is caused by mechanization, especially in areas with difficult geography or where invasive species have become an issue.

* The proposed fee per acre of $1,328.85 will include all requirements requested by the Parks and Recreation Department.

* The City issued Request for Proposals 25-36RFP for Controlled Livestock Targeted Grazing on March 14, 2025.
