RECOMMEDED COMMISSION ACTION:
* Receive and file presentation.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* Staff will provide training regarding the Consolidated Grants Application Process and recent updates.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Consolidated Grants Process includes grant awards for both the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Community Support Grant (CSG)
* Each year the Community Grants Advisory Commission (CGAC) reviews grant applications, conducts public hearings, and provides funding recommendations to City Council.
* In previous years, agencies receiving grant funds from the city's budget for transit and other support services were not included under a competitive process. To improve public transparency all nonprofit agencies requesting funds to provide community or public services, must now apply through the Consolidated Grants process.
* The transit funds will be made available under a new transit grant, and the other support services can be provided under the existing CSG. These changes will be effective under the FY 2026-2027 program year; the application process will begin February 2026.
* At the request of City Council, a new category will also be added to the Community Support Grant categories for nonprofit capacity building, to allow agencies to receive resources to more effectively serve McKinney residents, where needed.
o The annual application process runs from February to June of each year. Eligible applicants must apply for funding and participate in public hearings that will take place in April and May.
