ITEM SUMMARY:
? This Resolution creates the City of McKinney Galvanized Service Line Replacement Program to facilitate the replacement of identified private galvanized service lines requiring replacement and authorizes Program expenditures in an amount not to exceed $210,000.
The Program will use a contractor selected through the City's procurement process to coordinate property owner outreach, site evaluations, scheduling, replacement, restoration, and post-work care. Eligible work is limited to the linear replacement of an existing private galvanized service line from the public water service line meter box to the exterior of the home. Enter item summary]
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), effective December 30, 2024, strengthened requirements intended to reduce lead exposure from drinking water. Galvanized service lines requiring replacement may contain or accumulate lead and can contribute to lead exposure.
Public Works reviewed the City's water service line inventory and identified 25 private galvanized service lines requiring replacement.
