ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Art Club of McKinney is requesting $7,100 for the advertising, marketing and promotion of 2025-2026 events to include one student show, one member show, an Art Meets Poetry show (in partnership with Mockingbird Poetry Society), plus four workshops and thirteen smaller scale events.
• Each show draws visitors from the DFW area plus travelers from out-of-state to see specific artists’ works. Expected total attendance for all events is 1,250+.
• Admission to each show is free.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Founded in 1914, the Art Club of McKinney is the oldest art club in Texas.
• With 135+ members, its mission is to elevate the art standards of the community by education through various projects and programs.
• Collaboration with other art related organizations in McKinney is a priority; those organizations include food service groups and the East McKinney Learning Garden.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 25 is $250,000, $125,000 for Cycle II applicants.
• MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant to Art Club of McKinney in an amount of $4,200 for 2024 events.
