ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Art Club of McKinney is requesting $7,100 for the advertising, marketing and promotion of 2025-2026 events to include one student show, one member show, an Art Meets Poetry show (in partnership with Mockingbird Poetry Society), plus four workshops and thirteen smaller scale events.

                     Each show draws visitors from the DFW area plus travelers from out-of-state to see specific artists’ works. Expected total attendance for all events is 1,250+.

                     Admission to each show is free.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Founded in 1914, the Art Club of McKinney is the oldest art club in Texas.

                     With 135+ members, its mission is to elevate the art standards of the community by education through various projects and programs.

                     Collaboration with other art related organizations in McKinney is a priority; those organizations include food service groups and the East McKinney Learning Garden.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 25 is $250,000, $125,000 for Cycle II applicants.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant to Art Club of McKinney in an amount of $4,200 for 2024 events.
