RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This item authorizes the application for and acceptance of, if awarded, a Collin County Parks and Open Space Funding Assistance Program grant for the Wattley Park project and other related improvements.

                     The application submission deadline to Collin County is July 6, 2026, with an award announcement in October of this year.

 

                     This project will include a new trail, playground and basketball court improvements, and a new pavilion. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Upon award, the project is ready to begin design utilizing a landscape architect from the City’s approved vendor list.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting assistance in an amount to be determined once the opinion of probably cost (OPC) will be provided at the end of May.

                     This funding program requires a 50% match from the City, which is due upon award notification this October.

 

o                     There is $2,404,689 programmed in the current budget CIP project PK1831.
