RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the Recommendation

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This 1-acre passive park is located within Craig Ranch and consists of a longhorn statue, pedestrian walkways and seating areas.

* The Craig Ranch HOA is looking at signage improvements throughout the development and it was discovered that this park has never been officially named.

* The City's naming policy requires that the Park Board provide a name or names to the City Council for consideration, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by City Council.

* Generally, a name(s) should be selected based on the following: Outstanding and/or predominant geographical or physical features of the land; Outstanding and/or predominant historical features of significance; Contributions of land for a park site; or in honor of a community/state leader or hero.

* The recommended name for this park is Longhorn Park, due to the existing longhorn statue and long-standing informal reference to this park as Longhorn Park.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* This is a park that is required per the Craig Ranch VCIM agreement and is in satisfaction of the city's parkland dedication ordinance.
