ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance amends Section 62-113 of the Code of Ordinances to establish a speed limit of 45 mph for Custer Road (FM 2478) from Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) to Westridge Boulevard.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has conducted a speed study along Custer Road (FM 2478) from Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) northward to Westridge Boulevard to reevaluate the speed limit.
• In accordance with State Law and Department policy, TxDOT has proposed to lower the speed limit to 45 mph along Custer Road (FM 2478) in this area.
• The speed limit for the remainder of Custer Road north of Westridge Boulevard will remain unchanged at 50 mph.
• The City Limit between McKinney and Frisco is the centerline of Custer Road (FM 2478); therefore, this Ordinance will only apply to the northbound lanes of Custer Road from Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) to Westridge Boulevard.
• Approval of this Ordinance will reduce the speed zone limit of Custer Road (FM 2478) from 50 mph to 45 mph from Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) to Westridge Boulevard.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• No funds will be expended for this item. The Texas Department of Transportation will install all necessary signage along Custer Road (FM 2478).
