RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
    • Acceptance of the Award
  • ITEM SUMMARY:       
    • The City of McKinney has been awarded the Gold Leadership Circle Award by the Texas State Comptroller's Office for financial transparency.
    • This project was coordinated by Alexandra Casey and Donna Chamberlain in the City's Finance Department.
    • The Award is for enhancing the level of fiscal accountability and transparency to our taxpayers by publishing the City's budgets, financial reports and check registers online.
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
  • Three levels of award can be earned: bronze, silver or gold. McKinney has earned the highest ranking, a Gold level.
  • Approximately only 30 other cities obtained this level of award.
  • This is the first year the City has received this award.
  • Our Communications and Marketing Department was also commended for our website being "a very user-friendly site."
  • The award designation is valid for one year. The Gold level also means McKinney has been added to the Texas Transparency web site listing at www.texastransparency.org/local.
