ITEM SUMMARY:
* An election was held on May 3, 2025 for qualified resident voters of the City to vote at said election for
o Mayor,
o City Council Member for District 1,
o City Council Member for District 3, and
o City Council Member At-Large #1.
* The election determined the winners for City Council Member for District 1 and City Council Member for District 3.
* The election determined there should be a runoff election for Mayor and City Council Member At Large #1.
* The ordinance approving the election results will include the final voter totals.
* The final election results are the certified numbers provided after the ballot board met to count provisional ballots on Monday, May 12, 2025.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* In accordance with the McKinney City Charter, Chapter III, Section 9,
o Since the year 2013, Mayoral and City Council elections for members of District 1, District 3, and At Large #1 are held every four (4) years on the uniform election date in May.
o Since the year 2015, City Council elections for members of District 2, District 4, and At Large #2 are held every four (4) years on the uniform election date in May.
* The next city election for a Council member for District 2, a Council member for District 4, and a Council member At Large #2 will be held in the year 2027.
