ITEM SUMMARY:
* McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a project grant application submitted by Direction 61:3 for infrastructure and public access areas located at The Farm, a Future Community of Transitional Living Homes for young adults who have aged out of foster care.
* The Farm will provide housing for 58 young adults through a variety of residences including two-bedroom studio apartments for independent living and three-bedroom to five-bedroom homes with a houseparent.
* Planned amenities on The Farm include a counseling center, administrative offices, an event center, recreational areas including a pond and sports courts, a public gathering space, a coffee shop and market, and an automotive shop for their Kingdom Cars Program.
* The Farm will be built out in phases with full project completion projected in 2030.
* Project elements include infrastructure and Community Event Center, Recreational Areas, and a Coffee Shop and Market at The Farm. The Farm is a community of transitional living homes for 58 youths/young adults who have just aged out of foster care. Goal of The Farm is to build the confidence, independence and opportunity for the young adults living onsite.
