RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes a contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide construction inspection services during the construction of the Redbud Pump Station 794 PP Water Transmission Line Project, for an amount not to exceed $90,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Freese and Nichols submitted a response to RFQ 17-58 for Miscellaneous Construction Inspection services. They were selected as the most qualified firm by City Council on August 15, 2017.
* The Engineering Department has previously identified a need to supplement its current engineering inspection staff with additional third-party construction inspectors to increase the level of inspection provided and to better ensure that new infrastructure is constructed in accordance with the design and City of McKinney requirements.
* A detailed level of construction inspection is required for this project which involves installation of nearly 4,800 linear feet of 54" water transmission main.
* Freese and Nichols will provide one pre-qualified construction inspector to provide inspection services for this project to supplement the City of McKinney's current construction inspection staff. The inspector will determine conformance with plans and specifications as well as applicable City, State, and Federal requirements for the above mentioned project.
* Freese and Nichols has submitted a proposal for their professional services in the amount of $78,349.05.
