ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City of McKinney provides School Resource Officers (SRO) to the McKinney Independent School District (MISD).
• There will be fourteen (14) SROs and two (2) SRO Sergeants assigned to MISD.
• The cost of the SROs is shared 50% to both MISD and the City of McKinney.
• The cost of one SRO Sergeant is covered 100% by MISD, with the 2nd Sergeant covered at 50%.
• The cost of fifteen (15) fully equipped police pursuit vehicles is shared 50% to both MISD and the City of McKinney.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The prior contract, approved by Council on October 2, 2018, provided for 50% cost sharing of fourteen (14) SRO’s and 100% cost paid by MISD for one (1) Sergeant.
• To ensure adequate program supervision, MISD and the City agreed that an additional (1) SRO Sergeant is needed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• MISD will pay the contract amount of $1,148,673 for the 2020-2021 School Resource Officer Program.
