ITEM SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a $15,000 contract amendment with Crossland Construction Company, Inc., the Construction Manager at Risk for McKinney Fire Station 10 located at 1150 Olympic Crossing (formerly CR 228), McKinney, Texas 75071, related to the installation of various Fire Department training props.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Crossland Construction was approved by City Council as the Construction Manager at Risk for McKinney Fire Station 10 on July 17, 2018 and a contract amendment for the guaranteed maximum price contract was approved on December 18, 2018.

McKinney Fire Station 10 (MFS10) was completed and opened for operation on time and within the original budget which did not contemplate the installation of all of the training props that might be needed for the new training yard at this station.

The Fire Department recently requested that Crossland Construction provide a proposal for the installation of new Fire Department training props at MFS10 and Crossland has submitted their proposal for $12,000.

With this approval, Crossland will be notified to begin the replacement of portions of the existing exterior slab to accommodate the structural requirements for the new training props and will be complete within a few weeks.

Crossland Construction Company, Inc. is ranked among the top 100 general contractors in the nation and is among the top 250 largest contractors in the world. Regardless of project size, Crossland offers a wide range of construction services and is one of the top general contractors in North Texas. They are a Prosper based firm and have successfully completed McKinney Fire Station 10, the Air Traffic Control Tower at McKinney National Airport along with other civic facility projects for other municipalities.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract amendment to the existing Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services contract, for construction services with Crossland Construction Company, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $15,000 which includes a $3,000 contingency.

With this amendment, the total contract will be $7,158,700.

Fire Station 10 was funded within the FY20-24 Capital Improvements Program with general obligation bonds and funds are currently available for this contract amendment.

Upon approval of this agenda item, $231,392.38 will remain in project FI1734.
