• Approve the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Collin County awarded the City of McKinney $6,889,619 to provide Emergency Housing and Living Assistance to residents of McKinney and surrounding areas affected by COVID-19
• The grant funds expire on December 30, 2020, with any unspent funds due back to the County and United States Department of Treasury.
• Due to slower than expected expenditure of funds, Collin County Commissioners
• passed an Amended Interlocal Agreement asking the four cities who received Collin CARES EHLA grant funds to return $11,595,442 to the County to fund other programs benefitting McKinney and other County residents impacted by COVID.
• As a result, McKinney’s allocation of funds has been reduced by $2,095,442 - from $6,889,619 to $4,794,177.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On June 2, 2020, City Council approved the City to accept U.S. Treasury CARES grant funding from Collin County in the amount of $6,889,619 to provide rent, mortgage, utility and food assistance to residents of zip codes: 75048, 75069, 75070, 75071, 75072, 75409, 75424 and 75454.
