ITEM SUMMARY:
• Root Policy Research provided a Housing Needs Assessment which showed four (4) main housing needs in the City
• Staff is seeking Council guidance on the implementation of programs to address these housing needs
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• In 2019, City Council adopted a Strategic Goal to “Provide a strong economy by creating a Global Housing Strategy and facilitating a balance between industrial, commercial, residential and open space.”
• On January 7, 2020, City Council authorized a contract with Root Policy Research, in an amount not to exceed $55,000, for a Housing Needs Assessment.
• On July 21, 2020, Root Policy Research presented the final draft of the Housing Needs Assessment to City Council and on September 15, 2020, City Council accepted the final version of the Housing Needs Assessment.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The actual cost of the Housing Needs Assessment was $49,680
