ITEM SUMMARY:
* McKinney Garden Club is working in partnership with Heard Craig Center for the Arts on the 2021 Art Meets Floral event and is requesting $7,700 for advertising, marketing and promotion of the event.
* Approximately 12 paintings have been selected for Art Meets Floral. Florists from McKinney, Allen, Celina, Princeton, Denton, Plano, Richardson and Dallas will be invited to select one of the paintings and design their floral interpretation of the painting.
* The event will be held September 26, 2021. Tickets will be available beginning in March 2021 and the cost will be $10 each.
* Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the winner of a People's Choice Award.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Founded in 1930, the McKinney Garden Club celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2020.
* The mission of MGC is to continuously preserve, protect, educate, beautify and serve as McKinney's civic leaders for a more beautiful and sustainable McKinney for the future.
* The organization is dedicated to educating the community on the design and management of gardens in McKinney.
* Historically, MGC has promoted city and highway beautification programs, actively supported environmental concerns, and sponsored plantings in McKinney.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* MCDC's allocation for FY 20 Cycle I Promotional and Community Event grants is $100,000.
