RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The City of McKinney was allocated funding from the Department of the Treasury, through Collin County, in the amount of $5,486,423. Emergency Rental Assistance Prevention (ERAP) funding must be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus. This scope of this funding will be used to assist eligible residents with rental and utility assistance to benefit eligible low-to-moderate income households under the Department of Treasury guidelines.
* The Interlocal Agreement between the City of McKinney and Collin County, as well as an item to approve Catholic Charities as the subrecipient to administer the Treasury funds, are included in later agenda items.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Collin County, Texas, received funding from the Department of Treasury under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 to provide emergency housing and living assistance where households have suffered economic hardship directly as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. This program is to provide funding assistance to residents of Collin County in default or near default on the residential lease for their housing unit due to the effects of the COVID-19 public health emergency and to provide for assistance with utilities.
