ITEM SUMMARY:

* This Ordinance will amend the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Annual Budget and the 2021-2025 Capital Improvements Program by appropriating MCDC fund balance and transferring it to the Parks Construction Fund to provide funding for a project grant approved by the MCDC board for the McKinney Parks and Recreation Department in the amount of $3,637,040 to be used to complete design drawings for the Apex Centre Expansion and for delivering immediate physical improvements to the facility.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

* In February of 2019, the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) awarded funding to hire an architect to study the viability and develop concept plans for the potential expansion of the Apex Centre located in Gabe Nesbitt Community Park.

* This process resulted in conceptual plans that confirm various viable options to deliver more square footage to the building. This process involved a steering committee comprised of representatives from City Council, PROS Advisory Board, MCDC, Apex Membership, and City staff

* At this time, the Parks and Recreation Department is requesting funds in the amount of $2,500,000 to be used to complete design drawings for the Apex Centre Expansion...
