ITEM SUMMARY:

The May 1, 2021 General Election did not determine a winner of the City Council District 1 race, thereby causing a Runoff Election to be ordered for the candidates earning the most and second most General Election votes. The Runoff Election would be June 5, 2021 with candidates Justin Beller and Stan Penn.

Candidate Stan Penn registered a Certificate of Withdrawal to be removed from the Runoff Election ballot.

In accordance with Texas Election Code Sec. 145.095, “if a runoff candidate withdraws, the remaining candidate is considered to be elected and the runoff election for that office is not held.”
