RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

ITEM SUMMARY:
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with McInnis Brothers Construction, Inc. for the construction of the Stonebridge Lift Station Phase 1 Improvement Project (WW1853) for a total contract amount not to exceed $ 960,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Stonebridge Lift Station is located at the southwest corner of US 380 and Stonebridge Drive. The lift station was constructed in 2003 and serves the general area of the City bounded by US 380, Coit Road, Virginia Parkway, and Stonebridge Drive.
* Public works operations staff have identified several electrical issues at this location that, if not addressed, could cause the lift station pumps to fail. A pump failure would result in a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) into the natural environment.

* This project will furnish and install a backup pump system that includes a standalone pump and motor that will meet the buildout flows. The pump and motor use a float system with an internal battery to start the motor; therefore, the backup pump system does not require electrical power or controls to operate.
* A shelter will be provided over the existing electrical control panels to help limit the exposure to the weather.
