RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of a resolution to enter into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for Police Academy Training Services.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This agreement allows the McKinney Police Department to participate in the Basic Police Officer Training Academy program hosted jointly by the cities of Plano and Richardson to prepare police recruits for the Texas State Peace Officer Licensing Examination required for all police recruits.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• This is an annual agreement and provides police training for new police recruits. McKinney Police Department does not currently have an in-house training academy and partners with surrounding agencies including the cities of Plano and Richardson to provide training and to prepare police recruits for the Texas State Peace Officer Licensing Examination required for all police recruits.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The McKinney Police Department will pay $1,000 per recruit to the City of Plano, funded by the Law Enforcement Budget. The number of future recruits is currently unknown and dependent upon personnel vacancies within the police department.
