ITEM SUMMARY:
• On January 19, 2021, staff brought the recommendations of the Root Policy Housing Needs Analysis to City Council Work Session to seek guidance on the implementation of programs to address the housing needs identified in the study
• City staff is providing an update on the progress of implementing City Council recommendations, as well as seeking direction on new opportunities
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Root Policy Housing Needs Assessment identified four (4) main areas of housing needs in the City of McKinney
o Additional affordable rentals for households earning less than $35,000
o Starter homes and workforce housing priced near or below $200,000
o Increase ownership product diversity (e.g., “missing middle housing”)
o Strategic redevelopment and condition improvements
