ITEM SUMMARY:
* Western Specialty Contractors of America (Western) has submitted a proposal to provide Design/Build Services for Phase 1 of the McKinney Silos Restoration Project (GR2109) in the amount of One Hundred Seventy-Three Thousand, Seven Hundred Eighty and No/100 Dollars ($173,780.00).
* This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a Design/Build Services Agreement with Western to provide construction and engineering services and potential changes to that scope of services for Phase 1 of the McKinney Silos Restoration Project in an amount not to exceed $190,780 which includes a contingency of $17,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* A recent study found that the McKinney Silos were in need of repair and restoration. The City has owned the silos since 2019.
* The McKinney Silos are an important architectural feature in the master plan for the future municipal complex and will also be a canvas for the Guido Van Helten mural.
* The City issued a Request for Qualifications (22-10RFQ) to solicit responses from qualified firms for the design and rehabilitations of the McKinney Silos.
