ITEM SUMMARY:
* McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a project grant application submitted by Hugs Caf? Inc. to upgrade one of their greenhouse structures to include benchtops and irrigation to assist in accommodating an increased wholesale business and to expand their propagation inventory. Improvement to driveway and grounds is included in the request.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The mission of Hugs Caf? Inc. is to enhance the lives of adults with special needs through training and employment.
* Hugs Caf? and Hugs Greenhouse has a goal is to provide a place of competitively-paid training and employment for adults with special needs - that teach valuable skills and provide an ability-conscious career pathway.
* Hugs Greenhouse recognizes food service may not be for every person or every ability and has created a business enterprise that trains and educates adults with special needs on gardening, retail sales and provides a revenue stream for the organization.
* The Greenhouse project proposal is for the investment of heating and final propagation infrastructure for two greenhouses.
